DAOstack ICO About

DAOstack is a blockchain-based operating system for DAOs that will be running on the Ethereum blockchain as opposed to creating its own blockchain. DAOstack enables the effective governance of self-organizing collectives. Its mission is to bring a landscape(base) of DAOs into life and to enable crowd cooperation around any goal. Imagine DAOstack as WordPress for DAOs. DAOstack is aiming to bootstrap and grow the DAOstack platform, as an operating system for DAOs and invest in an ecosystem of DAOs that will be using the DAOstack platform.

DAOstack ICO Review

DAOstack has many use cases, but to name same:

Collaboration to Produce an Outcome-the goal is to develop products or services for a decentralized company. To name some-the decentralized version of a film project of 1000 artists. A climate initiative of 50 000 scientist and more.

Asset Management-management of assets and the allocation of the funds. Should one invest in a specific company, property etc. Examples would include decentralized versions of venture funds, pension funds, real estate investments collectives and more.

Curation-leveraging the wisdom of the crowd to rank the subjective quality of objects. F.e. decentralized versions of restaurants or hotel guides(much like TripAdvisor), articles and video feeds and more.

In laymen’s terms-if DAOstack project gets executed successfully, it will significantly disrupt the current model of decision making and use of collective intelligence allowing for better solutions at any scale.

DAOstack is built on several layers making it possible for both developers and DAO participants/creators.

Arc- the base layer of DAOstack. It’s a library of smart contracts implemented on the Ethereum blockchain, each of which represent functional elements that can be mixed, matched, and even modified to create the complete governance protocol for any given DAO

Arc.js- is a JavaScript library that lets front-end developers easily build applications on top of Arc without being familiar with Solidity or the blockchain.

The Application Layer- most users of DAOstack will be individuals instead of developers/software engineers. These individuals will interact with DAOstack mainly by using the Dapps built on Arc and Arc.js.

Alchemy is the first application built on DAOstack and by using it-everyone will be able to create a DAO in a few clicks, create an ERC-20 token if desired, and invite others to participate in a hub of decision-making and talent-sharing.

Can anyone tell me more about this so-called "voting system?"

  • 7 months ago Paul Walterson

It is a particular scheme that triggers an alternative voting system, enabling anyone holding reputation in the DAO to propose a specific number of tokens to award the agent with

What do they actually do and what are the purpose of their ICO?

DAOstack is a blockchain powered operating system that will provide a comprehensive framework that shall make the creation and maintenance of DAOs simpler and more feasible. This solution will fill in all the existing gaps and work on creating an Internet of Work that will allow people to contribute resources, skills, and capital to various projects.

@jaypanerio So in layman's term they kinda like a cloud servicing company as well correct?

DAOstack is a promising project with an all-star team which aims to create a simple framework for creating and managing DAOs (like Wordpress for non-blockchain apps). There is already a working product on a testnet and the team plans to release it on a Mainnet in April. DAOstack has partnerships with other solid blockchain projects such as Endor, Sapien Network, and Gnosis as well as with funds and software development companies. Still there is a lack of information about use-of-proceeds and no roadmap.

DAOs have a variety of topologies and structures, each of which has their own pros and cons, what makes these structures similar is the fact that they all work on a voting system that basically calculates every party’s voting power (based on the number of tokens they have or their reputation). This voting system enables various parties to take part in the organization’s decision-making process and participate in the organization’s operations. The DAOstack will also have a similar Voting System that shall be as simple as possible to keep it efficient, resilient, decentralized and scalable. DAOs made through DAOstack will require agents (parties that are contributing to an organization) to submit proposals which shall initiate a decision, these proposals will be voted on with a simple Yes or No. Proposals shall have a time limit after which they will be closed and their acceptance or rejection will be decided based on the number of votes that were submitted before the time limit. The DAOstack’s voting system will implement a Quiet Ending that will prevent last-minute changes being made to votes so that finalization attacks can be avoided; if significant changes are made to votes just before the proposal closes, the stack shall automatically extend its closing time for an additional day.

DAOstack finds a good way to balance between reputation (voting power) and staking GEN tokens (in favour or against a proposal) to achieve the most effective and useful problem solution.
